An item already closed on the Auction? - 11/15/2008
Why was this webring auction item closed ahead of time? I still had an active bid.

I love Jesus 11/20/2008 15:21:51 32: outbid

When I select it from my auction button on the account summary, I get this;

Item 1227223311 could not be opened. Perhaps it is now closed.

Now I've had another one outbid on and it has closed ahead of the due date and I cannot increase my bid. What is going on here?

Oh, I see, should have read the Blog, you can actually go ahead and buy the ring. Never mind.

Yeah, you should see the buy now link on most (all at this point) auctions. We imagine there will be a short period of "buying" going on. rings that people have had an eye on for awhile, rings that came up "cheap" in the automated pricing algorithm, etc. After that we would expect most auctions to proceed "normally".

We're very encouraged and enthusiastic about this new feature though. We want to allow members to do their own auctions for just about anything, returning to somethign like the old "ebay" days where real people offered items. What do you members think?
